First Class Ceiling Fan Wiring One Switch
As with all 3 way circuits the common on one switch is connected to the hot source wire from the circuit.
Ceiling fan wiring one switch. Then leaving the double switch box is a 3 wire cable going to the ceiling fan and a 4 wire cable going to the other 3 way switch. To wire a 3 way switch circuit that controls both the fan and the light use this diagram. Connect the green copper wires together.
I explain how i wired a ceiling fan on one part of the switch and the light on the 3 way part of the switch. The common on the second 3 way switch is connected to the hot wires on the fan light. 3 way fan switch wiring diagram.
The fan has power when the switch is on while the fan speed and the light if the fan has one are controlled by pull chains on the fan itself or by a remote control device. Ceiling fan and one wall switch if there is only one wall switch and you will not be installing a second switch for the red wire then the red wire should be capped off with a wire nut for safe keeping. Wiring a ceiling fan and light getting started.
After this strip the ends of the wires so the copper ends are exposed. Just focus on one circuit one at a time and it will fall right into place. The diagram above looks complicated but it s really not.
Then screw the ceiling fan bracket into the ceiling and thread the wires coming out of the ceiling through the center so they re freely hanging down. Now for the trick. That s usually the hot wire for the light.
The wiring trick that lets you wire a ceiling fan with light to one switch. Turn off power at the breaker. Notice this circuit has a 3 wire cable power source coming into the double switch box.
