Ace Ceiling Light Circuit
If two cables enter the ceiling rose you have a loop in circuit.
Ceiling light circuit. This is an alternative way of wiring a lighting circuit. In order to energise the light we need to connect it to the supply available. The procedure involves daisy chain wiring.
Unlike power circuits lighting circuits are always of the radial type. These days the loop in system predominates though individual circuits often combine the two for the most economical use of cable. Some light units incorporate their own switch for these fittings the power circuit is then connected directly to the fitting.
Remove the switch from the circuit and test between the wires with a continuity tester or with an ohm meter. The lighting cable is routed from the consumer unit to a series of lighting points for ceiling roses or wall light fittings. I currently have the following circuit in a room.
If they are loose or have a burnt appearance replace the socket. Repeat the connection for the black wire from the junction box and the black wire from the fixture. Supply switch and light.
The power to each lamp is connected via a wall or ceiling mounted switch. Finish the connection to the circuit by connecting the bare copper wire from the junction box to the green wire from the fixture with another orange wire connector. The permanent live wire is wired into the switch and the switched live into the switched live terminal.
As you can see a basic lighting circuit consists only of three components. However in this guide we ll focus on the lighting circuit wiring. Connect the white wire from the light fixture to the white wire from the new ceiling junction box by twisting an orange wire connector to both wires.
