Unique Installing 240v Breaker
Running a wire from a new breaker in the breaker panel to a workshop area in the basement for a 240 volt circuit for my table saw and bandsaw http woodgear.
Installing 240v breaker. Remove the panel cover and locate two adjacent open positions. Snap the new double breaker into place. Connect the hot wires to your 240v double pole breaker.

Make sure you use a test light or meter to verify that the power is off since it s dangerous to install a circuit breaker in a panel that still has power. Turn the main circuit breaker off. Some 240 volt appliance circuits use 4 wire circuits that include a neutral.

Make the connections to the ground and neutral bus bars before connecting the two hot wires to the new breaker. Pull the new sheathed cable into the circuit panel remove the sheathing and strip 3 4 inches of insulation from the wires. Secure them by tightening the screws.
Once you ve verified that the power is off find an unused space next to or between existing circuit breakers and press the new circuit breaker into the space making sure the circuit breaker is in the off. Install the 240 volt circuit breaker in the circuit panel. To install a circuit breaker start by turning off the power supply to the electrical panel and removing the cover over it.
